Default Xenon retro-fit: what is a control unit?

Posting this in every forum I can think off just incase you've seen this thread before!

Has anyone here retro-fitted OEM xenons for an Audi a6 4f (2007) model?

I have got part way in that I have taken out the halogens and put in the OEM xenon headlamp units in (bought from Germany)

Found I needed to get an adapter from halo>xenon, bought this so the lights turn on now.

The adapter has two wires which it has to apparently connect to the "system control unit" but I have no idea where and what this is...anyone help out?

The really "useful" help diagram is http://www.kunset.de/Einbau/Audi/Aud...chlussplan.pdf

I don't understand German but the translation is roughly

Bi-xenon change-over:

Right headlight: Xenon adapter Pin11 goes to the electrical system controller into the 32poligen plug C pin 16

Left headlight: Xenon adapter pin 11 goes to the electrical system controller into the 32poligen plug C pin 6

Daily trip light:

Right headlight: Xenon adapter Pin12 goes to the electrical system controller into the 10poligen plug A pin 1

Left headlight: Xenon adapter pin 12 goes to the electrical system controller into the 10poligen plug A pin 6

they connect to C6 (left) and C16 (right) respectively of the headlamp control unit. The wires would be blue/purple.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated as this is becoming a very expensive mistake and I'm getting a bit frustrated - taken about 2 months for parts to be delivered and a week to get these in with the rain starting every 15-20mins!

In possible relation to the above:
My main beam does not work (the light you pull the lever in for)

Auto-leveling does not work

right light is pointing down
left right is pointing up

Thanks in advance!

I realy want to know if someone already done this retrofit. About the cables from kufatec Akash, I write them and ask for info about them. They reply realy fast:

Dear Sir,

the other two cables goes to the board control unit (for daylights and
Bi-Xenon shutter). After the installation you must coding the address 09 to
xenon headlights.

I`m still lost with this board control unit. Recoding 09 to xenon this is helpful.

Regarding the board computer I reply them back with question about location of this board control unit, so I expect them to reply soon and let you know immediatly.

About the audo leveling xenons is this motors are inside the headlight or is some part separate from them?

pas70ra you've made my week with that reply!
My problem was that the harness was bought off ebay simply because it was a few quid cheaper but its the same item as kufatec

Having said that, I did email them anyway and I got the same reply as yours
But the main issue was the location of this "board"

The motors are built into the lights..I can see it visually

So are you doing this too? You say recoding 9 to xenon making me think you've done this already?

No, I do not start yet, but this 09 recode is from original answer from Kufatec. So I accept this like a genuie issue which need to be done after installing.

Dear Sir,

This is under the dashboard on the driver side.

This is what I hate about Kufatec, they are so vague in their replies even if you spend a lot of money with them!

I will have a look today but something tells me it won't be as easy as they say it will

I still don't see any mention of it in Elsa, there is a Automatic headlight range control module under the glovebox (passenger side obviously) but nothing about drivers side

Can they provide anymore assistance like how to get to it?

Well of course he is talking about a LHD car. So it would be under the drivers side.

so in a RHD car it >is< under the glovebox?

That means even the glove box has to be removed... making kufatec's statement a bit wrong then I think?

Having re-looked at Elsa, it displays a left hand drive car with the module being under the glovebox so if kufatec says it is under the drivers side dash, they must mean just that regardless of what type of car it is

Assumption made is that there is a module for headlight range control under the glovebox, and a normal headlight control module under the drivers side

I'll go shower up in a bit and make an attempt

Default Update: Phoned Audi and also took off driversside panel

Ok, so I phoned Audi today as someone enquiring on where the control unit was. She said in the headlight unit - I advised that I have been told its around the driver or passenger side.

She then emailed me a picture from ETKA basically showing a small box on the drivers side but no help at all in where it goes.

So I took off the drivers side panel under the wheel, very easy, 2 second job though I noticed one of the screw plastic lugs broke off..only to also notice it was glued on so someone (most likely Audi) have been there before!

So I took off the panel, took some pictures. Still can't figure out which one it is. Maybe its the plug on the right of the picture attached?
