A6 2.0 TDI Mulittronic Grinding on Hill Start

When the engine is cold and I'm stopped on a slope the auto brake holds the car without needing to apply the brake but when I press the throttle to pull away there is a slight grinding noise and the car judders before setting off smoothly, its almost as if theres a delay between the engine revving and the gear engaging. Its only done 35K miles and is my first multitronic. I've only just bought the car and am a little concerned that there may be a gearbox issue. I was hoping one of the experts on this forum could advise before I take it to the dealer. I've had problems with them fobbing me off before with my last Audi and to be armed with an explanation may prove very useful!
