I was sitting and idling the engine (started the car with the advanced key in my pocket and never put it in gear) and after several minutes the engine shut down and had to be restarted. Dealer swears it's a safety feature in case you walk away from the car and leave the advanced key behind. Just curious if anybody can confirm this is supposed to happen? Car seems fine so far - not stalling at lights or anything like that.

You could walk away and the engine will continue to run, however if the kessy recognises the advanced key is more than 2 metres away from any of the aerials and the car is driven off it will run fine until the car is stopped(turned off) and then it will not restart as no key will be found and this will be highlighted on the dash display,so the dealer in question is wrong in there description and this can be backed upby the owners manual or the mmi cd rom owners manual.
