Question Factory iPod adapter for 2007 S6??

I bought my 2007 S6 last December and the dealer told me there would be an iPod adapter available from Audi "shortly". It's been a year and no such part seems to be available or even "in the works".

1. Does anyone know if there is one available now or will be, and if so, when?

2. Any recommendations for an aftermarket unit, with pros and cons?

I live in NW US, about 60 miles north of Seattle.

Thanks, S6Guy

Don't know about the US but there has been an official AUDI ipod adapter in the UK for a couple of years - it looks to me to be a rebranded Dension unit with AUDI firmware, it cost about 80GBP and I fitted it myself in an hour - the head unit thinks it's a CD autochanger and the CD's are the 1st 5 play lists on the iPod with the 6th bing either "what you were playing last" or "start from the very (alphabetical) beginning of the ipod" - depending on the mood it is in.

With the MMI I think you get better track by track etc. integration.

I am sure you seen it, but it is described on the audi us web site (don't know if it is available)

Default iPOD Adapter

I bought my '07 A6 with an iPOD adapter in it while State Side. There is one out there, so your dealer should be able to square you away.

Best of luck!

Malarcy,

Would you be able to supply the part number for the adapter you bought. I was looking at the Dension Gateway 500 but 80GBP sounds a lot better than 270GBP. Do you know if your unit would work in an A6 with MMI High?
