I bought an eight month old A6 4 weeks ago, but from day 1 it had a poor idling problem - like it was misfiring on one cylinder. It does this until it's warm and only when stationary - occasionaly it splutters so much that it stalls! . Beachwood Audi tried to fix it but couldn't. They contacted Audi Germany who siad it knew about the problem and were working on a fix, until then I had to put up with it - they showed me the e-mail. Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so has it been fixed?

I was waiting for this post.I am dealing with four 2006/07 2.0 sline multitronic irratic idle at junctions and misfire. They all seem to be 140bhp and the same software versions, there are a number of software up dates that cover this issue but none work,i have found the egr values are incorrect and can only be altered by blanking the egr port off, however this causes the emmision light to come on.Fear not you are not on your own and two vehicle have been tested at audi uk and the results have been sent to the factory for some urgent feed back to repair.I feel your irratation as i require a fix also for my customers who so far have accepted the issue and await a repair,i have seen the fault on road test for my self and its not good,i will say your deaker is correct and they can do nothing until a repair(software up date) is released.Regards Jon

Smbrown any news about this problem. I have 2.0 tdi manual with the same problem. I bought the car from car giant and was for repair several times regarding this and other problems. The other was fix , but this idling not. Now they send me to audi dealer to ask them to find the problem and cargiant to fix it. I`m wondering did they find some fix about this?

pas70ra Software upgrade from Beechwood Audi worked. However, it did take a few attempts and months before they got it right. I've copied their contact details for you, they should be able to point yu in the right direction. Hope this helps.

Mine went in 2 weeks ago for the same reason though mines an Auto (07)
You would actually see the revs going up and down by themselves when stationary - was pretty freaky Dismissed it initially but it got on my nerves so took it in. Dealership knew about the issue somewhat, did a software upgrade and everythings sorted now in that department. My now fav/trusted dealership is Camberley though it's probably out of the way for some of you ![]() |
