Cracked Cylinder Head
I have a Nov 2004 A6 2.0 TDi, 35,000 miles which has just had a cracked cylinder head...but what a saga this was.
I had the car serviced in May and 2 weeks later the Collant warning came on. I took it into the garage, and they filled the tank, thinking that maybe it wasn't filled at the service!
10 days later, the warning came back on. I took it to the garage, and they topped it up, and booked it in for 2 days for the following week. After 2 days, they said they has found the problem - a faulty sensor in the coolant tank, which they had now replaced! I did point out to Crawley Audi that the tank had emptied at least twice if not three times, but they insisted the problem was fixed.
I was also experiencing problems starting the car if it was left for more then a few hours.
Anyway, surprise surprise, ten days later the coolant warning came on. Into the garage it went, where they now found it had a cracked cylinder head, and the coolant had been mixing with the oil.
Not a great recommendation for the skills of Audi 'technicians'
