I have recently been experiencing an intermittent fault when selected in park or neutral. The indication for park or neutral is not HIGHLIGHTED on the Dash indication and hence the car will not start ,after leaving for a few hours all then is ok and able to start. No consistency in the fault only visible thing is this indication, once icon is highlighted no problem.
Has anybody out there come across this and action to take Thanks |

Hi , yes I have seen this before,if you get the fault memory checked it may say "F125 implausible signal" this is due to debris or metal swarf on the magnetic sensor for gear position on the control unit in the gearbox.I have cured the problem by flushing the gearbox oil twice,if this doesn't work removing the control unit and clean the pickups, if still no joy after this then the only cure is to replace the control unit.

Thanks Badger61.
The problem was started about one month after a normal replace of the oil. Today i got the oil replaced again and the symptoms seems to have changed. Today I could start the warm engine when I come home and I tested some times in about 1 hour and the "P" light was highlighted, but suddenly it was dead for about 2 hours. When I could start the engine again the "D" was not highlighted and I had to shift to manual to move forward, all light flashing. When I come home again the engine was dead again. Do you think I shall repeat the replacement of oils? Many thanks in advance Last edited by Lars-Ove : 05-07-2008 at 05:00 PM. |
