Default latest sat nav dvd with uk tmc functionality

I have just got off the phone with my local audi dealers.
they have given me a price of £266 + £100 labour charges to upgrade to the latest mmi sat nav dvd.

I've read on various other posts here that there was a free upgrade available but they said on the phone that the upgrade offer had expired.

£366 is an awful lot for an upgrade to the latest disc, considering that you can get a tomtom with all your traffic cameras etc. for about half that price these days.

any suggestions?

Default

It takes about 1 hour to flash update the mmi via the cd multichanger and then pop the latest sat nav disc in

Question

Hi Mr A8 tech,

I have acquired the latest "High Update" MMI cd which is supposed to take my MMI from version from 2140 upwards to version 3460, and the new 2008 european map. I have a couple of questions if you could help?

1) How do I check my current software version?

2) Is this as easy as I have been told? : Press Return and Setup for 5 seconds, change menu to Software Update and take the choice of updates

Surely this can't be it? Can I break it? (of course I can!)

Thanks

jake
