Default All Season Tires for S6

Hello all, I am in the process of buying a slightly used 2007 Audi S6, however it comes with with summer performance tires (265 35/19), and I may want to put all seasons on it, since I am in a northern climate. I'm having a hard time finding anything in this size. Does anyone know of available all season tires for this size? Thks

your best bet would be buying wheels at the same time and swapping them when needed. I would stick with 17" or 18" for winter weather conditions.

I took delivery of a 2006 S6 in December. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so all season tires were on my list. After looking for some in the 19", I opted to go with the 18" wheels (bit less harsh, too, I'm sure).

I purchased the following from Tire Rack and have had excellent luck with them so far (7,000+ miles), but I can't help with 19" tires, sorry:

Thanks S6 Guy, I am far from technical when it comes to cars, but (..dumb question here...) can you go from 19s to 18s without it affecting anything else?...while the 18s may provide a softer rider, I was under the impression that you should stick with the tire sizes the car comes with? Thks

The rolling diameter of the 19" and the 18" should be the same - the difference is in the tire sizes. I checked on TireRack's site and the 265/35 19 = 26.3" diameter and the 255/40 18 = 26.0" diameter - pretty close.

The 18" were a factor option, so should be ok.

Here is a link that may ne usefull to all of you people who are looking at chsnging wheels and tyres.

Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible

For ttb99:
At about 2/3 down from the top of the link, look for
Why would I want to change my rims and tyres anyway?
It gaves you a comparaison between different sizes and rolling circumference.
This is the important bit you need to look for when changing sizes.
If you go down from 19" to 18" with your tire size:
you will be looking at 245/40/18.
Otherwise your speedo will be out

Thanks for the site, mavala. It's easier to use than Tire Rack's.

I think you have a typo and meant 255/40/18. They are what Audi puts on and have only a 1% small circumference (1 mph on the speedo at 70 mph).

tbd99: Yes, still enjoying it a lot.

That's a great website, tons of information, a little complicated, but I now have a better understanding of how it works...hope to pick up my S6 next weekend, can't wait.
