MP3 with MMI

The CD changer comes with MMI is MP3 capable, isn't it?
My one recognizes when a data CD is inserted, but does not play any mp3s...

Any ideas?

Apparently only the 2007 model cars are equipped with the MP3 CD changed. However, the C6 model CD changed IS data compatible, as it reads the electronic manual, and recognises an MP3 disk as a CD-ROM (but just greys it out and will not let you select).

Therefore I think it is a software issue as opposed to the equipment itself. Next time I go to the dealership I'll ask if it can be upgraded.

Here in Holland the CD-changer is 630€ + install. Cheaper if you buy an used one from Kufatec (about 390€ + S&H).

MMI updates are easy to find online for download

Craig, how about cd changer HW ver: 4E 0035111A? Is this changer capable of playing mp3s or canI upgrade it's firmware to later revision to make it compatible?
