Can someone tell me how to enable the system in the 2006 A6 to accept and play movie DVDs?

Hi,

I have noticed this solution (Audi A6/A8 (New) AV Input no TV Tuner @ http://www.nav-tv.co.uk/udev.php), which when I contacted the company should be availabe in about 6 weeks time (pricing not confirmed yet).

I am interested myself, but do not know very much about this, anyone care to share your thoughts? would it be difficult to fit to the car? could we add rear screens?

Thanks for comments...

Tom

Nice try, but the A6 and A8 MMI system is slightly more sophisticated than your normal aftermarket DVD/TV etc.

The tuner can be programmed to display whilst in motion, no probs, costs around 200 euros from various places on the web. But you still cannot play DVD's in the OEM equipment. I have just bought the device for enabling TV in motion on the A6/A8 & Q7 with TV tuner installed.

You would need an external DVD player attached to one of the AV inputs of the Audi tuner.

What Audi "might/could do" is release a DVD player for the A6 or A8 that fits in one of the CD player slots, as these are actually "Media Player" slots. So they could make a DVD player if they wanted to. But then your TV in motion issue moves to the DVD player and not the TV tuner, so any hacks you have had done to the tuner will not work.

Life is unfair...
