Received further information from KUFATEC today. The DVD was not included, and they was not offering this article. The DVD has to be bougt on ebay! I had to be aware of the part.number. It looked like there was a lot of correct DVD's on ebay, but a lot of them was made for A4, A3, older models and so on. Found a correct DVD at €70 (far less than €800 at the dealer). Hopefully I will receive it within short time.
KUFATEC will send me a updated fitting instruction for my Avant. Ketil |

Installed the Kufatec kit last week. Pretty simple, took me about two hours. No problem to split the fiber optics. As expected the kit came without the navigation DVD. So I had some pretty exiting days with “No navigation DVD inserted” message on the MMI. I ordered a navigation DVD on Ebay for 25 euros (the 2005-1 version), and today I got it. Inserted the DVD, and it worked like a dream. Magic.
The total package cost me about 700 euros and 2 hours work. Not bad at all. To do this navigation retrofit an A6 4F (C6) is highly recommended. |

Hi
I have received my DVD Navigation set from Kufatec a few weeks ago and installed it on Saturday. The instructions supplied by them (copies from the original Audi installation manual) was very helpful and I was able to install the whole kit in less than 90 minutes. The arial that Kufatec supplied was not the roof mounted arial (external) or the one that must be stuck next to the third braking light, but one of their own products that is easier to install below the back window underneath the parcel shelf. After I connected the power, the unit was working and requested the disc to be inserted. I struggled to obtain a dvd since all the Audi dealers in Johannesburg and Pretoria is currently out of stock, but the dealer that sold me the car gave me a copy until the new dvd disc arrives. The system works brilliantly and no coding was necessary. I am very glad I bought the Kufatec system. On my next trip to Germany I will definitely buy the Motorola telephone for the car as well. I personnaly visited Kufatec in Germany and was surprized to find them being a small company. They had many DVD units in their store room and they manufacture the cable on site. The unit I installed had 4 previous finds, two being Kufatec in Bad Segeberg in Germany and two places in a country with the code IH. The unit was second hand but tested by Kufatec before I left their premises. I can only advise all A6 owners without DVD navigation but with MMI High to buy the system and have it installed. Kind regards Jan-Louis Spoelstra Johannesburg |

At last: My beloved Audi A6 is equipped with a wonderfull OEM navigation system! I received the correct DVD and it was only to set the disc into the player and everythng was running like I hoped. I used a non-Audi garage to help me, and they told me that it was a easy job. I see that KUFATEC now offer the complet nav set INCLUDING the DVD for + €100. A acceptable price compare to the hassle of searcing for the corect DVD on ebay. I have hoped to use my shark antenna, but it was only useful for my telephone. I therefore had to replace it with the one KUFTEC sent me. The Audi navigation system is fantastic, even the smallest roads in Norway is marked, and the gps identify exactly where the car is positioned. All of you who have not installed the nav, do it now! For 1/4 of the price at a Audi dealer you can buy it at KUFATEC (or one of the other companies that sell OEM nav). Search for what you need at ebay (mark for worldwide search), most of the equipment is sold through german companies (try the google automatic translation of web pages if you have problems understand german). My next project is to install TV! Thanks to all who have supported me! Ketil |

Ooops!
After almost a week with everything functioning 100% suddenly bad things happens! First the navigation stopped, nothing in the MMI system worked, and the MMI system finaly shut down. My first thought was; this may be expensive... I contacted KUFATEC and they told me that I have to do the coding. The cryptical message was; "After the installation CAN gateway (address 19) must be coded still on navigation. In addition the bit 5 must be set in the byte 05". I have now asked a Audi dealer to do the coding. Lets hope that make it all run smoothly again. Ketil |

Ketilh,
Good luck with your GPS . I just got mine installed today. I paid alot more than the Kufatc solution but I have GPS none-the-less. I have a 2006 S-Line 4.2 that was purchased without the NAV. A few days after I bought it I was really missing NAV (I am an American living in Italy) so I talked to a my friend and radio installer at his business. I ended up purchasing the audi dvd nav unit (1200 Euros) and the western maps cd (500 Euros) from the dealership and he installed it using the the power and fiber connectors in the trunk. After a few hours at the dealership trying get them to reveal the location of the GPS antenna from the sharksfin we took my A6 back to his shop where we removed the inside left aframe interior cover and the back liner that covers the rear parking brake lamp and found the blue connector for the GPS. We spliced the antenna wire and ran it to the unit and created a connector. It was a fairly generic connector. In anycase I put the DVD in -- got my updates and I am now reading my MMI user guide on how to use the dayum thing.--LOL -- I was charged 100 euros for the labor but I am happy it works. I hope I dont have to go to the dealership again because they were no help eventhough we bought 1700 euros worth of parts. |
