Default 3.0 Timing belt jumped. Still runs! Could engine be ok?

I have a 2002 A6 with a 3.0. The timing belt jumped but the car still runs. There is a lot of valve noise, but the car seems to run on all cylinders.

What are the chances I can install a new water pump and timing belt and the valve noise will quiet down to a tolerable level?

I'm not interested in pulling cylinder heads or replacing the engine. I'm just wondering if it would be worth the gamble to replace timing belt and water pump.

Thanks
