A6 2.5 TDI V6 cambelt change

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help out with what sort of price I should be paying for a cambelt change on the above car. I know its not going to be cheap! but was wondering if there is much difference between main dealer and independent? Is it best trusted to the main dealer?

Also is there anything else that should be done at the same time?

Just make sure they use the proper locking tools and not tipex to mark the timming. Its important that the cam pulleys are loosened so that the tension is even around the belt. Otherwise the timming will be out and you might shear the cam tensioner bolt.

hello , got mine done a few months ago . It quite a big job and and cost me the thin end of £300 by an independent, all the front end of the car off jobby . New belts , tensioner kit . Well worth getting done for piece of mind . hope this helps you out ;-)
