Smile Just bought! - 2001 Audi A6 Quattro in Black..

Was going to get a 3-series BMW..jesus..glad I didn't!! - so I Got for for $17.4k - fully optioned - only down side was high kms (168 on purchase) but has full NZ new service history from purchase - and is a dream to drive with the 3L V6 Quattro engine... one question - i'm sure it is the 2002 model (i've compared many, and mine's the same shape as the 2002 facelift) - does anyone know why it would be badged as a 2001? so stoked on the purchase!!

ABS brakes with ESP
Audi/Bose Symphony Stereo/Speakers (10 speakers)
Air conditioning
Alarm
Official Audi Alloy wheels
Central locking
Driver airbag x 2
Passenger airbag x 6
Power steering
Towbar - (removing for now - till own boat haha)
Climate control, Cruise control, electric heated mirrors, electric memory seats, electric windows, remote locking

Hi AkCity, you really found someting which you will not regret, anyway u compare with a wrong series it should be par with 5 series instead.

I personally also like this car but due to the heavy maintenance i stop my decision till i get enoughs spare cash first..

the car was probably one of the first 2002s made. They were actually made in 2001 but sold a a 2002 body style. great buy, make sure the timing belt has been changed

I've got a 2000 4.2 & I'd reiterate someone else's comment & suggest you have the cambelt done if it hasn't been already. Unfortunately it;s outrageously expensive here. I had my thermostat fail at 139,000Km & to get to it you need to take the front off the car, then remove the serpentine belt & bits, cambelt & tensioner etc. While we were there we replaced the cambelt idlers, tensioner, cambelt, water pump (driven off the cambelt). Being aghast already I didn't do the cam seals, serpentine belt nor it's idlers (you can do those after). As it was it would have been NZ$3300.00 from the dealer :-(

One word of wisdom, take the "beauty" cover off the top of the engine & if you can see any braided cloth-covered vacuum hoses, go down to Super-Cheap Auto, buy a few metres of plain rubber 3mm vacuum hose & replace every straight bit of braided hose you can find, they perish & leak like a sieve causing major problems with the vacuum-driven components of the engin-management system..
