Hi all,
I have a 99 A6 2.8 that refuses to start. Went to get a pizza the other day and tried to start it. It caught, then choked itself out. Since then, nothing. Cranks untill the cows come home, but no go. I can smell the raw fuel from the exhaust big time, and when I pulled the plugs, they were wet. Checked for spark, and I have a nice fat blue arc. Pulled timing belt covers, (Im getting close to due) and verified that the belt is intact. I replaced the coolant temp sensor (as it was going on the fritz anyhow), and no improvement. Fuses are good, lots of gas in the tank, strong battery. Hmm, now what? Any ideas fellows? Thanks for reading.Cheers |

Turns out it was the engine coolant temp sensor. When it goes south the computer thinks its -40 outside and pumps her full of gas. Took 2 days and oil in the cylinders to get compression back. Runs good now, though. Hope someone finds this helpful down te road.
