2000 A6 oil smell

When I start first thing, there is a pretty strong odor of oil burning in the cabin. Just today after a cold start and a mile or so driving actually had smoke/fog coming in the car thru the vents. Any ideas on the problem??

Sounds like a V6 engine.

They can leak from the back of the engine onto the exhaust!, either the rocker gasket or normally the cam end gasket

Not to hard a job to fix.
