Default TDi 110 vs 130 - differences? Upgrade?

Hi,

I am new to Audis and looking for a C5 A6 diesel, however the differences in engines is confusing me a little.

As I understand it there is a 110, and a 130, and the 130 didnt come out here (England) until 2001.

Are they very different engines, or is their a reasonable upgrade path to take a 110 to a 130? I fancy the extra power of the 130, but cant really afford the newer 2001 year car that they come on.

Also what is the signifigance of the 'PD' designation of some Audi diesel engines? Were all C5 diesels 'of type 'PD'?

Many thanks!

Anthony
