hi guys
I got a 2000 A6 Quattro really cheap from a friend. The check engine light is on, the air bag light is on. the car was never in an accident. No maintanance was done on the car. The previus owner frequently put cheap, 87 octane, gas in the car. The front tires are bald. steering wheel not straight. oil burning smell in the car. it idles rough. there is oil everywhere in the engine bay. I do all the work myself. anyone have any tips or tricks or advice.

I hate to say it but to be honest I think it would be cheaper to do an engine swap than fixing the one you have now. The majority of the problems can be figured out using a vag-com or some other similar diagnostic tool, but if the oil is everywhere when they maintenence it or put oil into it they probably didn't put the cap back on. I say buy a new 2.7TT and put the Stage 3 From apr or awe on there.
