Hello everybody, just thought I'd drop a line since I'm new here. I recently bought an 99 A6 Quattro in November of 04' for 10K w/85000mi on it. The interior of this car was nearly perfect. The exterior only had 2 minor scratches which I could live with for now. After I recently purchased my car, and having it for less than a week, some idiot decided to key the hood, and both passenger doors. Man, how aggravating, even though the damage was minimal I was pissed, because I had just bought the car. What losers!!! "Karmal" will come back to them. I recently noticed a whistling noise from the engine on a cold start, and thought it might be the serpentine belt, roller or tensioner. One of those. I talked with some mechanics around here in Santa Fe, and they said it was most likely the timing belt, so I opted to have my car serviced, since there was little to no service history on my car. I had the timing belt, timing roller, timing tensioner, front tensioner, thermostat, waterpump and serpentine belt replaced for $950. And the whistling noise still continues. So after all that, they say I need a new Air Pump, which costs like $250 plus $100 for labor. Man. Why didn't they tell me that in the first place. Anyway, enough about me. I'll continue this later, and tell you people the outcome. I've got to run. Hope to hear from some of you soon. Thanks. I Love this car.
Quick question? I need an oil change, and was wondering what weight oil should I use? 5W-30, 10W-30, I'm going to use Mobil 1, from now on, and was wondering if that is good enough? Thanks again.

I read somewhere that unless you will be doing a lot of high speed (100mph+) driving for more than tens of minutes, then the 5-30 should be fine. If you will be doing high speed for longer periods, than go with the 5-40. Maybe someone else can confirm that.
