I own a '99 2.5tdi v6 tiptronic, i thought the car would have more power than it does. I think its has gradually decreasesd in power over thr past six months and i noticed it most the other day when i struggled to pass a Nissan Micra as i left a roundabout. Talk about red faced.
Any suggestions or should i go back to my old T5.

HI, the 2.5 tdi is a powerful and fast car, its faster than most people think. I've give my brother a run for his money in his MG ZT 190+ I did'nt win but he did'nt get away, so a micra has no chance.

Put it in to a audi garage where they will run a diagnostic test which should find the problem and put right. It will put a smile on your face and your micra beating days will be over. your T5 days will begin good luck

Hi, i agree the 2.5 V6 is a fast car i have left quite a few ppl behind, they seem to see the TDI badge and think oh its a deisel its not very quick but after a few 100 yards of trying to keep up change their mind :P I would get it in to an audi garage it sounds like MAF needs changing, i had it on a 99 seat toledo i used to own after a while you loose loads of power as soon as the parts changed it will burst back to life and seem more powerfull then ever!

Having a similar problem with my 2.5TDi Tip. Local garage have had a few too and tell me that Audi are getting so many problems with the Mass Airflow sensors that instead of being a £200+ replacement item they've started a recon service for around £70.
That said, we've tried two now and we still have a power problem!?

Hello all,

just wanted to post and give you some advise re these problems,

i had the very same problem, but mine seamed to get worse and worse, until the car stared to smoke on tickover,

there turned out to be 3 problems that can cause this type of fault,

1 the number 3 injector has a sensor to read the neadle position, this was showing a fault on my car, this was changed and made things better but not as good as it should be,

2 now this could have been the killer, took the car to the local audi dealer, and after they had finised looking down there nose at me they agreed to have a look at the car, 3 days later i got a call to say that they had forund the problem, and that the turbo was on its last legs, £1200 plus fitting and oil change,

after getting up off the floor, i agreed to collect the car as i could not afford to have the work done, after chating with one of my mates we decided to have a look at the car our selfs. after looking at the car for about 20 mins we found that there was a blocked breather, its located in the top of the block under the fule pump pipes, its like a filter, ordered a new one from audi at a cost of £35, and now its a different car more power faster take off and more mpg,
Audi have said that this is not a service part and there for would not be checked of changed on a normal service,

3 there is a small pipe running up to the turbo that can get blocked and this causes a loss of power at about 3000 rpm

well hope this helps some one out there,

thanks

Matt
