Car locks itself

Hi there,

I'm a newby to the forum but would like to ask if anyone has experienced the same problem as me.

Recently, when I open the tailgate and close it again my central locking activates and locks the car, and usually me, out.

My Car is a 1995 Audi A6 Avant 2.5 TDI (140) It doesn't have remote access/locking so I need to use the key. I turn it twice to the right to unlock and once left to lock.

I wondered If I had possibly activated this feature accidentally by using the key when the tailgate was open.

I've checked the owners manual and workshop manual but nothing gives any information.

Has anyone experineced the same problem.

Hi,

I don't know if this will help you but you may give it a try anyway.
I had a similar problem only that my car used to open itself after a while. Eventually I spoted the problem: the wires were damaged in the upper left part of the tailgate. Somehow in time they got pressed by the tailgate when closing. I just had to solder the wires back and redo the isolation and the problem was gone.
