Exclamation Audi 100 1992 2.0E starts but dies - faulty throttle sensor?

I just bought a 1992 100 2.0E manual with an AAD engine (100K, FSH), well looked after etc but with a recenlty developed problem. It starts perfectly but then dies after about 5 seconds - the revs just drop until it stalls. Everything seems fine, I've looked at the plugs, leads, distributor, fuel pump, air mass and fuel distributor, done a compression test etc. I found the wiring to the Cold Start Valve had melted where it had touched the exhaust - I repaired it but the problem remained - except the previous over fueling problem went away (presumably caused by the CSV staying on due to shorting out). Could a faulty throttle sensor do this, where is the ECU?

Suggestions greatfully recieved!
