Please help me, I can't get my 2.5Tdi to start.
I started it this morning and drove to work ( no prob ). After being parked up for about an hour the bloody thing wouldn't fire, it cranks over, attempts to "catch" But nothing!!! I had to be towed home (RAC). He reckons that the fuel pump has adjusted itself beacause of a Leaking Exhaust manifold due to a decrease in back pressure. It seems to be sending too much fuel, hence it not firing??? When I sort out the manifold problem, Will the fuel pump (self adjust) back to normal? or is this a more serious problem? i.e fuel pump service? 1994 A6 avant 2.5 5cyl Tdi 115bhp May thanks Chris. |

Gee, I wish that we had these here! I want one!
How's your glow plug circuit? I am not sure about AUDI, but my VW gets down right upset without it's glow plugs ALL working. I don't know yet if a 2.5TDI has glow plugs, but I assume it does. I may be way off base here, but here is a simple free test: Do you have an engine heater? If so plug it in and wait an hour. Try starting again. If it starts right up when nice and warm, look for glow circuit problems. About the manifold leak, yes, TDI's are very picky engines, but the sytem self corrects as far as I know. You will need to fix it anyway, so why not do it now? Best wishes, Clearview |
