We are looking to change the ranking system used for forum members. Currently forum ranking system is based on posting. The order is:

Newbie 0
Member 25 *
Full Member 50 **
Senior 100 ***
Expert 250 ****
Veteran 500 *****

If you have better idea for forum ranking system, please feel free to post here.

The ranking systems should be insignificant to people / members who are looking to promote Audi interests and the sharing of all Audi technical and general information.

I would hope that posting just to obtain a higher 'member' status would not be an objective of people using the website. I think you subject just might have a negative result in the forum. More posting that contains less information.

This current 'scoring' / 'ranking' system is fine for those who need a 'status' symbol - I thought I purchased my Audi because I wanted to make a statement. I don't need to obtain anything else other than good information and the promoting of Audi interest. Word of mouth by those who only view the website and not post may be on of our biggest draws.

You may want to look at other metrics to see how the website is doing overall instead of the ranking system.

Metrics that might be important -

Replies per post

Number of posts / replies viewed within a single session by a member

Average Length of session by member or visitor

Ratio of members versus visitor per week / per day / per month.

Just a few thoughts that might assist in getting new visitors to become members, understand what members view, what posts (subjects, forums) draw the biggest activity.

I know some of this is monitored but is it available to the general membership.

Thanks for the time & keep up the great work - I appreciate the website and the time put in by all to make it a worthwhile place to log onto.

Thx CA2.7TS , good suggestion indeed . However, it will involve complicated programming effort to include those metrics.

Anyone, any other idea?.

i agree, i like CA's thinking.. post count shouldnt matter, however it is a common ranking system on nearly every forum that i've been involved with... it should stay just based on that. Until this point, we have had no problem with people posting 'fluff' just to get their post count up, and when/if we that situation it would be delt with accordingly.

I agree that it would be a programming nightmare.

No issues with the current method - I just look at things a little differently. Keep up the good work. You guys do a great job admin ' g the website.

I think the weather is going to be good this weekend - keep the rubber side down!

Enjoy your weekend,
