headlight removal... in need of help!!

hi, ive got a 2005 B7 non xenon and ive just wasted an hour trying to remove the headlights..

i read it was possible to do without removing the bumper but am doubting it now, ive searched high and low for instructions but cant find any.. can any one help please..
