Default apr ecu flash void warranty?

considering apr ecu remap for my 07 a4 2.0t. i have heard that this voids the manufactures warranty. is that true? i know there is a setting in the program that puts it back to stock specs when you take it for service, but i have also heard that a good audi mechanic might spot it at the dealership.

really want the flash, but dont know if its worth voiding the warranty. any thoughts? thanks.

In the UK the warranty is not void unless you have a failure of a component as a direct result of any modification.

thanks, badger. i can't imagine that audi would operate any differently in the states(fingers crossed). are there any components known to fail due to the remap? i read something about a possible oil line failure due to increased oil pressure.

Haven't really seen any engine or other major failures but MAF sensors due to induction kits are a common item to fail. Make sure you tell your dealer about any remapping in case they have been asked to flash the engine control unit during service by Audi. The later cars go through a check sequence when connected to diagnostic equipment and modifications can be detected quite easily.

checking measured value block 11 indicates actual boost pressure which shows you if its been remapped also when a remap has taken place it leaves a electronic signiture.Dont worry not alot of people know about it and audi warranty will only question the dealer if repeated failure of a componant ie (turbo).I have used/advised remap with some rs4s to overcome hesitation so i ant got a problem with it.chip away.As badger has said always tell the dealer when your vehicle requires software updates and ask the remapper to revert it whilst updated then reset after or the update will fry your exspensive ecu.

pardon my ignorance... induction kit is the same as a cold air intake? which is not a necessary change with the remap, correct? so in and of itself, the maf would not be affected by the remap, only if i added an aftermarket intake kit? sorry, thanks.

thanks, a8 tech. so just to be clear, i tell the dealer that i have had a remap, and to NOT update the ecu? or does the update stack on the remap? Do I miss out on anything by not getting the manufacturers ecu updates? thanks.
