Hi all,
I would appreciate some advice on the following: I bought a 2005 Audi A4 2.0TDi 140 BHP last week. The car has 17" Audi alloys fitted. The seller, as part of the final selling price of €27K, gave a genuine set of 18" genuine Audi alloys. She said she "preferred the 17" so took off the 18". The reality is that 2 of the alloys have a dent in them, no doubt as the result of an impact with an Irish pothole in the road! .My question is this: which is better for this Audi, 17" or 18" wheels? Would there be any noticeable difference? If posters in this forum think so, I will have no hesitation in fixing them up and putting them on. Finally would the 1" diameter difference have much of an impact on the kilometer reading on the dash i.e. the car has clocked 80K kilometers, the majority with 17" wheels. What if there had always been 18"? Any comments/advice much appreciated Mike |

The A4 can sit on 19" rims easily without affecting the drive or handling and i really dont think the extra inch is going to affect your km reading, never heard that one before lol ..
You dont state wether it is the SE or Sport model you have as there is a difference in the cars ride height. I would say in my opinion 18" would look a little better- wider stance than 17" and fill the arches a bit more. I upgraded from standard 16" to 18" and wish i had gone 19 " now as mines the SE and theres still loads of room in the arches so i think a lowering kit(coilovers) for me next !! . Any pictures of the alloys you have to choose from ??![]()

Hi!
Just uploaded 3 photos to My Garage. The alloys you see are 17" but I have a set of used 18" that I could put on, but at some expense to myself. 2 of the 18 tyres are in poor condition and 2 of the alloys require some moderate re-shaping as the result of an impact with a kerb or a pot-hole |

how do the 19in effect the speedometer? do they at all? i was told by audi dealer i would need new sensors for speed to be accurate and that lowering the vehicle without proper sensor adjustements would cause it to create different codes that may or may not need to be addressed. actually the answer i received was pretty vague
