Default clutch and idling

Hi all, hopefully someone can help.. I have recently bought 05 A4 2.0tdi on the basis of good astetics and engineering only to find a vibration in the clutch pedal when pressing, also when idling the car seems to judder slightly. I took it to the Audi dealer to investigate, they ran diagnostics and told me all is well it could just be characteristic of the car. I had a Mazda 6 diesel before this and it ran as smooth as silk. Have I been expecting to much on the engineering front or am I being fobbed off with the dealer..
I will be taking this further and any help or info would be greatly appreciated..
Ricky

I don't know if this is help or not, but I have a 2006 A4 2.0 TDI Avant which I have found difficult to drive smoothly from new due to a clutch judder in first gear when starting from rest. I don't feel any vibration in the clutch pedal however.

I think the engine is fairly rough at idle, but the low down grunt and the excellent fuel economy make up for this. Perhaps the rubber engine and gearbox mounts are going a bit soft.

With best regards to all clutch slippers

Hi John, You are correct regarding the fuel consumption and the engine is real torqie. However when the car was in for testing they gave me a new A4 2.0tdi avant and there was a massive difference as far as the idling was concerned, still a slight vibration in the clutch though. Dont get me wrong this is a good car apart from these faults and I have to admit the sales team were excellent and when I get back from work hopefully we can get this sorted, but if they fob me off with the "this is just characteristic of the car" then I will be a very unhappy bunny
Thanks for the reply and happy motoring,
Best regards
Ricky

No probs. Happy to offer what help I can. What I didn't say was that thanks to help from A8Tech I have now got a new clutch fitted under warranty, which may just have solved the judder problem. I'm reserving judgement until a few days have passed as I only picked the car up last Friday.

While the car was in they gave me a pocket rocket A3 with the 170 TDI, that was good fun for a few miles, but we have disabled people in my family so I wouldn't buy one as we need the space.

With best regards to all wheelchair users out there

I have an 07 A4 TDI 140, and this doesn't sound right. In fact it sounds like 2 separate problems. My car has done 10K now and whilst the engine is externally more gruff than some of the common rail diesels, it doesn't vibrate at idle even when cold. As for the clutch, it judders slightly the first time I pull away on a cold damp morning, but other than this no probs. I dont think Audi will ever get rid of this 'damp morning' judder as my A4 B6 did this all of its life too.

Hi thanks for the reply, The more I am reading and looking into this problem the more convinced that there is a problem. I am becoming more aware that Audis seem to have some niggling problems associated with them and to be honest my problems I could live with but why should I. Given the price of Audis you would expect them to be near perfect which is clearly not the case. Hopefully when I get home I can get it sorted if not I will be going back to the Mazda dealer..
Best regards
Ricky
