Default what size wheel spacers should i use?

need some help from somebody who has done it.

i have 07 a4 2.0t fwd, s-line. will be soon putting on bilstein shox and h&r sport springs.

i have been getting mixed info on what size spacers i can use. one guy said he put 20mm rear, and 12mm front. but a shop that i talked to said that they wouldn't recommend doing anymore than 10mm all around.

please help. thanks in advance...

ps - i am hoping to get spacers installed at same time as suspension, so i can't measure space right now, (unless nothing will change with new suspension).

None. By all of the things (none of the things) that you have stated do you need spacers at all... Now if you were saying that you were getting new wheels and tires with an absurdly high offset, or a widebody kit, then you may require spacers. But for the things that you have stated, you dont need to do anything... Except get wheels and tires.

jacob, thanks for the reply (and nice nonchalant segue into purchasing wheels). alas, right now i am content with my wheels and tires.

the spacers are not out need, but rather want... to bring the wheels flush with the body that is. purely aesthetic. any suggestions?

H&R Special Springs, LP

This company (which also makes your
springs) makes trak lite adapters. I NEVER like to recommend spacers to any of my customers, they are unsafe and unstable... in some cases, it is a necessity... But in your case, it's aesthetic, so the only good way to go about doing this would be to check out what h&r has for your car. see what they have available first and then make your selection accordingly.

thanks. yes, planning on using h&r trak spacers, just trying to determine proper size.

on a side note, if you dont mind, i would like to discuss further your comment about spacers being unsafe. This is not the first time i have heard this, but have also heard contrary (other than the following quote). H&R website says "Maximizes vehicle track width for great looks, lowered roll center, and increased lateral stability – improved handling (and) increased safety... "

it seems that this is a topic with some differing opinions and i would like to open it up to discussion.

thanks for the input, jacob.
