Does anyone have experience of installing LED day running lights? It now seems that you can get 2W or so LED 'bulbs' (which gives you 15W at least light equivalent) and with quite good dispersion pattern - necessary to ensure 'bounce' off of the reflector to be efficient as DRLs.
You'd need a parallel ballast to avoid the bulb warning coming on. Has anyone done this mod - is it worth it and do the LED bulbs offer an improvement? Thanks. |

I'd enjoy a replacement for the day time running lights - my bulbs died at like 20k miles and now at 45k - they said that the sockets that the bulbs go in are recalled. So they have to order new ones. Of course they noticed this because both of the bulbs are dead again.
Yes I do drive wth DTL on all the time - no clue if they help or not - but I figured if they will replace them free - under warranty - i might as well use them.

Interesting mjesales. Agree with your tactics but once accountability passes to you (i.e. out of warranty) u might be glad of an alternate in case the 'fix' doesn't endure. Maybe lower current draw bulbs like LEDS would help. As i say you'll need a parallel ballast resistor else the bulb warning light will come on.
