Default things to look for when buying 2004 1.8t Quattro 6SPD

hello there,

i'm from ONT, Canada and am looking at buying an audi like mentioned in the title.

so far i've testdrove 3 audi's a4's and the one i'm currently looking at is an 04 with 97,000 Km's, it had the timing belt and water pump replaced and the guy said (private deal, not dealer) that it had all the service including all oil changes at the dealer and that he's got all the receipts of the work that particular dealer performed on this car.

b4 i enbark myself into being an audi a4 owner, what are the things to look for, or stuff that usually goes wrong with these cars in particular??

i know audi parts can be pretty expensive and if these cars are NOT that reliable i'd like to know b4 i buy one and end up spending a LOT of money to keep it running.

thanks again and any help would be appreciated.

Hi, if you read through the sticky threads at the top of the B6 forum you can see most common faults and fixes reported to give you an idea what to look out for ..

Generally the 1.8 T is a good strong engine which can take 400 + bhp through it with upgrades and isnt a cause for concern as you going for the manual trans too its all good ..

My motors just hit 90k and runs just as sweet and quiet as when new. The key is to keep the car serviced reguarly especially the oil changes ..
