Question New car, ? on headlights

I just bought a 2004 A4 Ultrasport, love it! One thing I'm confused about is the headlights. They are always on, when I put them in the off position, the headlights turn off but the parking lights stay on. Shouldn't that shut everything off? And what is the knob next to the headlight switch that has a clock next to it? I turn it and nothing happens. The owners manual wasn't much help so I hope someone here can. Thanks!

EDIT: In the off position, they are still on. In the parking light postition, its just the parking lights. But still no way to completely turn the lights off.

Uggh.. could be day time running lights? in alberta your car needs day time running lights and that might be why you cant completely turn them off. I dont know where you live but it might be that your car just comes equipt with it.

That switch is the "see me home" function. It controls how long your headlights stay on for after switching the ignition off and removing the key. Useful at night to light the path to your front door (assuming your car is parked pointing in vaguely the same direction as your front door!)
