Default Juddering question - trying to understand...

I've read a couple posts with people commenting on their car juddering. First, what does this mean exactly? Is it a transmission related issue, engine problem, or something different?

I've noticed that my car almost feels and sounds like it wants to kill/shut-off when I come to a stop, but it doesn't - it regains power. Basically, it seems like the RPMs are going to drop down to zero like when you turn off the car, but it maintains an idle level.

Trying to understand this. Does my situation sound like a juddering issue that has been discussed by other? Has anyone else had this - or is it even an issue?

I've researched juddering a bit online and it seems like its a shake or a jump... maybe i've answered my own question.

Either way, from the situation i've described above, has anyone had this happen with their audi?

The only time I had this issue on my old Audi A4 was when the coolant sensor played up causing the car to judder with irregular power loss and even in the end hard starting problems.

Did you simply replace the coolant sensor or was there a larger issue? When did you have power loss - at low/idle speeds or random speeds?

Thanks for the reply

Yep just replaced the sensor and all was back to normal again the problem was a gradual one that got worse over time but was not there all the time at first.

when the problem appeared you would have to put your foot to the floor just to keep the car going but would have very little power and when stopped you would have to play with the gas pedal to stop it from stalling and then sometime it would just go away till one day it was there all the time and starting the car was hell. When the car did start the smell was horrendous where the CAT got flooded with fuel and it needed burning off.

are you getting any error codes, MIL light? These are the best place to start. I know a lot of people suggest replacing certain parts that have gone bad on a lot of other cars, but in my experience, you're probably replacing some of these parts when you didn't need to. Basically your problem sounds like a rough idle.
