Default Juddering and ESP light

Hi
Got a slight problem with my Audi A4 19TDi 02 plate.

Over the last few weeks this has got worse to a point where today its become undriveable. After starting the car i go to pull away and the car seems under powered. And juddering almost as if running on 2 cylinders, after a few seconds the yellow light under the ABS light, that comes on when you hit the ESP button, lights up. ( read in the manual that this has a variety of meanings)

Normally this has happened when leaving my work, and need to drive up a mlle or so long hill so the car is under load for some time, when i used to get to the top of the hill I'd pull over and restart the car and all was fine, today it would not even pull away on the flat without the light going on , and restarting would not cure the problem.

Please help cannot afford my audi dealer to sort this out for me

Hi Guys

Just Had a freinds fault reader attached

Came up with the following 4 faults

P1256 17664-163 KPW1281 Engine coolant Temp

P1669 18077-163 KPW1281 Valve for pump jet cylinder 4 (n234) Electrical malfunction

P1144 17552-035 KPW 1281 Mass air flow sensor (G70) open or short

P0304 16688-035 KPW 1281 Cylinder 4 Misfire.

Just ordered myself a new air flow sensor any thought on the other issues especially relating to cylinder 4. Bearing in mind the engine is a deisel could this all be related to the air flow sensor.

Regards

I'm starting to get a stutter like that on my 02 3.0, but the slip light isn't coming on. I haven't had it checked out yet, but it feels like a misfire. You could also try replacing your spark plugs to see if that clears up the misfire.

Unfortunately its the fuel of the devil Deisel!!!
Replaced the air flow meter today, but light still coming on.

Once you replace these items do you then have to reset the fault codes for the ECU to know its had a new part fitted,

Having a chat with a mechanic today he said that some of these new fangled cars- post steam i think he meant go into a safe mode to get you home if something goes wrong with them. Would this be the case if the air flow meter needed changing but wasn't done for a few months after we had our first warning. And now it just needed to be talked into going again rather than more parts needed fitting Oh i do hope so!!!!!

An air mass malfunction will put the ESP warning on as it is a load signal shared by the engine ecu and ABS ecu and will require resetting.More of a problem is you Cylinder 4 misfire, the electrical malfunction sounds like a wiring fault to that injector, not uncommon as it's being sloshed by hot oil under the Cylinder head cover which can cause this problem depending on age and mileage.

Well if you have this issue Engine coolant Temp sensor playing up it may mean the coolent sensor may be faulty which is quite a cheap part and about a 10min swap job plus it a known issue on Audi's to play up and this may clear the rest of the codes once replaced.

mmmmmmm After an awful long time in the garage we've managed to get rid of all Faults on the car except for:

P1669 18077-163 KPW1281 Valve for pump jet cylinder 4 (n234) Electrical malfunction

I knew there was a reason for Me stopping working on cars Bloody ECU units. The wiring has been checked under the rocker cover all seems OK and i believe working back from this wiring to wherever it goes. HELP!!! i need this Car back soon the wife is wrecking My Dub T4.
