I Have a 03 3.0 a4 quattro. its about 94k right now and had the timing belt done around 90k. not always but off and on between 3-4 rpms it will make a mild grinding noise from inside the car, for shifting the pedal now is not as far to push in to change gears and i do not accelerate no wear near as fast as i use too.uphill accel. is terrible. any ideas?? i was thinking it could be the spark plugs maybe as the noise i hear from the engine does it very quick each morning i start the car and sounds to me like it can be in ignition. but would that effect my clutch too?

This sounds like me too. (3.0 02 a4 qsport) I'd say its like a resping sound, almost a crackle from the engine between 2500-4000rpm. Definitely less torque, like you pulling away/up hills etc.. I wouldn't say its slow, but its a noticable change. Anyone any ideas? Its also worse when cold.
