The sound your hearing is the TURBO winding down and it is normal. You will hear this even if you let the engine idle before shutting down. The reason is because most turbo's spin at approx. 60 - 90,000 RPM , this is why oil change intervals are so critical in these cars. The only time you really may want to let the turbo cool down is when it's been driven very hard (as in racing) or comming diectly off a long drive at highway speeds.

HEY GUYS!!!! UPDATE! THIS IS NOT YOUR TURBO SPOOLING DOWN. It's the fans from your climate control system. How do I know??? Well I tend to knw these things lol. No, I was curious because for a turbo fan to spool down that long, it would have to be quite big and VERY free of any resistance. Oil, regrdless of it's viscosity is still quite restrictive, and it has to be because it needs to be thick enough to maintain a lubricating film over engine parts at high temperatures therby doing it's job. OK I'm rambling. The reason I know this is because last night I turned the key to the on position. Of course, climate control kicked in and I distinctly heard the fans SPOOL UP. When I turned the key to the off position, the fans spooled down thus making the noise we all know and love. TRY IT AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. So NHOUK, your brother is WRONG LOL ![]() |

It's the fans in my opinion , especially when u turn off with AC on , and i actually like this, though it should not be loud , slightly noticeable . Really lound might point on some fans bearings wear.
