emission control warning light

hi there
the amber emission control warning light has flashed on and off a couple of times over the last couple of days
1st time it came on while making a short journey at night the next morning it went off after 30 seconds, i did 50 miles through the day and now it has come on again tonight, coincidentally when i switched my windscreen blower on

the car seems to be running perfectly

Had a similar problem on my 2001 1.8T sport, but the light stayed on. The mechanic may say its the air mass meter, (thats what may come up on the fault code), but get them to check the vacum hoses first b4 they change the AMM.
