I need to change my Audi A4 thermostat. Does anyone have a diagram or can anyone tell me where it is located?

Turns out it wasn't my thermostat. My waterpump needed replacing. I knew there was a problem because my coolant light had gone on and the car was overheating. The coolant level was fine, but apparently the waterpump wasn't.

thanks - this will help a lot. Seems like now that the warranty is gone, every few months something happens

When I first looked into buying my 2002 A4 Quattro, I was warned that it is a finicky car. Not because it's poor quality or craftsmanship but because the 1.8T is such a complex engine and as such there is always something you can do to it to keep it running smoothly. For example, my car isn't heating up as quickly as it should. I know it's because the thermostat keeps getting stuck in the open position but I've put it off all summer long. Now it's time to get it done.

There's also the oil that needs to be changed and some other stuff but to be honest the car has held up quite well for its age.
