Default A4 Cab Boot Catch Problem

Hi

My '02 (just 6 yrs old) A4 3.0 Cabriolet has just developed the following problem;

The boot catch appears to have failed. The boot lid won't lock down, and the dash display says the boot is open, plus I cannot set the alarm (I assume because the boot is open!).

I assume the boot lock is electronic, can anyone suggest how I start to fix this?

Many thanks

Rob

I have had the same problem twice. It seems to be the locking solenoid thats the problem. I think you should be able to over ride it using the key in the short term to lock the boot

My avant did a similar thing, had to remove tailgate cover and disconnect the solenoid, it failed in the open position thus preventing the tailgate from latchinf shut, thak god for cargo straps!

Hi. Thanks for advice on this. I took car to a garage and am advised that the solonoid switch has seized up. Cost of replacement is £25 so it could be worse...

a "stealer" will probably charge you 1 hours labour for this on top of the parts
