Hi all
I have a 2002 A4 1.9TDIse. Today I went to work as usual no problems. When I went to get in the car at lunch the door would not open, I tried unlocking the doors with the key fob several times but this made no difference all the other doors functioned normally. I then tried using the key to open the door again this did not work. I eventually climbed in through the passenger door and tried the lever on the inside again this made no difference. So far I have found out that there is an actuator in the door which locks and unlocks it. I have put my ear to the inside door panel and am quite sure I can still here this functioning. I have also been told that there is a bar/ rod or cable that controls the lock mechanically from the actuator is this right? I want to take the door panel off to get a look inside but have no idea how when the door wont open Help John. |

Sounds like the deadlock has failed if you can't open from inside, designed that way so tealeaves can't smash your window and open the door from inside, great until this sort of thing happens, I've heard that an A6 owner with the same sounding problem ended up having a new door card! I'd speak to the stealer first, they may have a Baldrick like cunning plan which might help
