Default Engine Management Light / Erratic runnning

Hi can someone help?

I have a 1.8T, and the engine management warning light has started to flash. The car is running erratically and not very smoothly.

Has anyone had similar problems, or able to advise on likely cause.

Should I take to a dealer ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

get your codes read on the car, this will be a good place to start. My car had similar problems when I started it. I went thru a million things before I finally found that I had a blown head gasket. Hopefully something smaller will reveal itself once you read the codes.

definitely sounds like coil packs, I have just changed all of mine as they started breaking down one by one with the same symptoms. For a good price on replacement ones try online automotive they are a lot cheaper than main dealer, and you get a two year warranty.

Sounds like a dodgy coil pack, check the fault codes in vag-com, i bet it will show a misfire,

if you need to replace a coil part, search for coil in this section.. i wrote a guide sometime back..
