Default Immobilisor Problem

Hi All,

I bought a A4 TDi Sport last week (2004) and I’ve been having problems starting it in the mornings, it actually turns over and starts but then cuts out after a second, people have told me that it's a problem with my key, they said it might have lost it's code within the key that syncs with the immobilisor, I don't think is the issue though as my spare key does the same.

This problem is intermittent.

Can anyone advise anything here.

Thanks
Ryan

Have you tried to replace the battery in the key??

Does it do it with all the keys?? ie.. 2 flip keys, the service key? the dinner jacket key?

Rick

it's happening with all the keys.

Just had a call from the garage now, they have found a problem with the engine (computer side) it's costing me 180 quid to fix it, they cannot say that this is causing the problem though, but they cannot see anything else wrong at the moment

I'm having identical issues with a 97 1.8t. I'm sure that it's an issue with the immobiliser but don't want to spend silly money at an audi dealership. Did you find a sollution?

Nothing to do with immobilisor, they replaced a sensor on the engine, that didn't work either.

In the end it was the timer belt, it was out by a tooth so I got that replaced, for everything it cost me £265 notes - not too bad really.

I have been told Audi ****ed it up at the service!! I bet it happened to be a trainee mechanic!!!

I had a similar problem with my Seat (assuming they're comming VAG parts) it was eventually traced to the earth connection on the immobilisor. Garage wired in a dedicated earth for the ommibilisor transceiver and everything was A-OK from then on (until someone drove into the side of me and wrote the car off !!!!)
