Default Noise... what is it?

I just picked up a Audi A4 Cabriolet, its got 35k on the clock.. when going over a hump/drain plate/uneven road.. there is a knocking/rattle noise coming from where the roof meets the windscreen.. its more above the passenger side....

is it common for cabriolets to make this noise.. its just this was the first i'm driving...

the seller did say that all cabs make this noise.. its this true? what should i change? do?

thanks

Is there a demo model at your Audi dealership you can take for a test drive?
If it does not make the noise, get back to the seller!
Unless you bought privatly and in this case it's your problem as cars bought privatly are sold as seen unless otherwise specified.

Thanks for the info... as the day was really nice today, i took the hood off... gave the joints a little cleans... and now the noise is gone.. if i'd taken it to some garage.. they prob. would have said i needed a new roof!

i am happy! thanks

Just bought a 2002 Audi A-4 Quatro, and i feel like i made a mistake! I love the car but im having some problems.
It starts going over bumpy terrain, there seems to be a loud ratteling sound coming from under neath and i know for a fact its not the skid plate. The car only has 63,000 miles on the clock!!
Also wanted to know what kind of transmission oil i should be using? Would appreciate any help.

I developed a similar rattle on my Cabriolet roof. cleaning helps also check the screws in the header rail.
Eventually Audi replaced the mechanism in the header rail under warranty and its been ok since.
I have also found that cleaning all the rubber seals around the doors and on the roof tends to quieten things down for a while.

Open the roof part way to get to all the rubber bits

Hope this helps
