Default cabriolet 2.4 or 1.8 ???

Hi. I'm going to buy an A4 cabriolet (an early one like a 02 or 52 plate) I've had an offer accepted on a 2.4 but it occured to me - (compared to a 1.8) that the insurance is more; it uses more petrol; and its 0-60 is slightly less.

So what is the advatage of a 2.4 over a 1.8?

There seems to be a lot more 2.4's than 1.8 and 3.0lt so its more like that I will find the particular spec that i'm after as a 2.4... but have just had second thoughts and considered waiting for the right one to come along! Its just temping to go for this one as it is a good price for the mileage and has a good spec.

Your advice would be really appriated

cheers

J

The 1.8t handles better as the engine is a lot lighter, you get better turn in and less understeer
I rekon that fuel condumption is better too

Plus you can chip the 1.8t and parts will be cheaper let alone the option to upgrade the engine if you wish as the 2.4 will have nothing at all.
