Default Motor Mount Question

hey guys I recently posted a thread about how my car would vibrate excessivley at idle. Well I brought my car to the dealership and had them look at it. It came to be a motor mount problem. So they fixed it but my question is how does the motor mount go bad? What would make this occur.

The actual mount is rubber, and rubber goes bad after all that vibration.

Some people fill their motor mounts with polyurathane, supposed to give you better response, since your engine is now solid to your car, no rubber to stop the motion.
