im just about to buy my first A4 cab. but im undecided as to what engine to go fot. 1.8t, 2.4 or 3.0 petrol.the diesel is out as i cant afford the extra couple of grand to buy the diesel model. i want to go for the 3.0 for the extra power but im scared of being stuck with a huge fuel bill. if you guys can just tell me what you get from yours thatd be great.
i previously owned a 1997 audi cab 1.8 20v which guzzled fuel and didnt have any power. any advised much appreciated. |

Had my 1.8T Sport for 3.5 years and averaged about 30 mpg. My driving style is generally quick and use the power when its safe.
The 1.8T is better balanced on turn in as the engine is a lot lighter than the V6's and is not much slower than the 3.0 in real world driving. Deisel and Cab, I dont think so, think of the noise and smell. Not Cool |

I take it your in the Uk when you say you worry about fuel costs as the Us is cheap compared to ours -lol
I would go for the 1.8 T as you can easily upgrade the bhp with a simple ECU remap for about £400 if you wanted more power than standard
