Default Aargh! Power fading - A4 Avant 2.5TDI Quattro

Hello all.

Bit of a problem and I don't know if it's serious...

When the engine is cold, power fades around 2000 revs for about 1/4 of second. sometimes it's barely noticeable, but when I'm acellerating (sp?) hard it can be quite a jolt. The power always comes back up very quickly. This usually only happens once during any journey, and never happens when the engine has warmed up.

Any ideas of what could be going on?

could be a coil pack on its way out.... i had the same issue were when you put your foot down at low revs it felt like a little flat spot for a split second and then pulled... i replaced all coil packs and problem resolved.

You could just buy one coil pack and repalce it on one cylinder and try.. if no better swap to next cylinder and so on until you notice a differance.... or just buy all 4....

before buying get it on VAG_COM and it will state a "misfire on cylinder "X" is its a coil pack.

Let us know how you get on..

Cheers

I really have no idea about engines, but are coil packs relevant for diesel engines?
