Hey up..

Today i got my AIR-CON re-gassed as it had lost it coldness...

Any one else had to re-gas theirs... the garage i went to (NOT AUDI too much $$$) said these are noramllay regassed about every 2-3 years..

Shame the weather here is cold at the mo!!

also something else i have found out today that if the outside temp is 4.0+c or below the aircon automaticlly turns off as it is not required... unless you set it to "LO".. Any one heard of that before??

Cheers

Yes, I think it actually 5 degrees C which you also see with the frost indicator on the outside temp display.

Some tips to keep your a/c in good shape

1. Never switch it off - fuel saving is peanuts.

2. Don't leave the system always in auto - every week put it in manual and drive
the motorised valves that control the air flow, otherwise they can stick.

3. When it is serviced or re-gassed, make sure they put lubrication oil in the system as well as the special dye which shows even the smallest leak under u/v light.

On one of my previous cars, a 96 A6 2.5TDi - the system worked great for 9 years, ( 300.000 miles) and never needed re-gassing until a small leak in the heat exchanger occured.
