Short Shifter

I am thinking about putting a short shifter in my 2002 A4. I saw some off brand ones on ebay for around $40 and B&M's for around $180. I don't want to spend 180 on a B&M, was wondering if anyone out there has put in an off brand one and if they work well?

most name brand stuff is around that price and higher
